Hidden Mexico Historic Eco Tour

Hidden Mexico Historic Eco Tour

Hidden Mexico takes you to some of the most unique and magical locations in the Puerto Vallarta and Jalisco region. This tour is meant for travelers who want to be taken “off the beaten path” and exposed to a side of Puerto Vallarta that few travelers ever get the pleasure of seeing. Going on a tour such as the Hidden Mexico Eco Tour allows you to see a bigger picture of Northwestern Mexico. Guests get the chance to better understand the natural landscape that makes up this area as well as the area’s vibrant history and culture.

The Hidden Mexico Eco Tour takes you up the mountain in open-air Mercedes Benz Unimog 4x4 trucks towards the historic 16th century village called El Tuito. Located at an elevation of 2000 feet, El Tuito treats guests to a crisp, refreshing mountain atmosphere as well as centuries of history and culture. Our journey to El Tuito includes a guided walking tour through the historic center of the village, including stops at the village’s main church and a tortilleria, as well as the location where the region’s famous Panella cheese is made.

While in El Tuito, you will get to see 1200-year-old pre-European rock carvings called petroglyphs. You will also get the unique chance of sampling local artesian bread that is baked in this area in a wood fired oven just like bread has been baked here for centuries. Lunch then is provided at a riverside organic farm. Feast on a delicious Mexican-style BBQ lunch and wash it down with your choice of beverage from the open bar. Lunch is followed by a tour of the raicilla distillery (raicilla is a spirit similar to tequila from this region).

The tour also includes a stop at one of the most highly reviewed gardens in the Americas, the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. Here, you will walk among a large variety of colorful flora including massive strangler figs, cacti, orchids, and much more. This tour is lead by a talented and knowledgeable team of local tour guides who are passionate and well-versed in the history and culture of this region of Mexico. These tour guides are on hand the whole time to answer any questions and to make sure you are having a great time!
